By the end of Year 2 students will:
- be able to understand and structure clear and detailed oral descriptions on a wide range
of subjects of academic and professional interest
- be able to understand in detail standard spoken language even in a noisy environment;
- be able to follow and respond to straightforward and clearly structured lectures or talks on
a familiar topic, including professional topics
- be able to understand most radio and TV programmes (documentaries, live interviews,
talk shows, plays and the majority of films) delivered in standard language and summarise
them orally
- to express a viewpoint by giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options,
causes, consequences, hypothetical situations
- be able to use appropriate language in different social contexts
